Location: Varies (MML Corporate Headquarters – San Antonio, Texas or Assigned Showroom)

Summary/Objective

The Sales Assistant supports Sales Associates in all aspects of the sales process in order to maximize revenue.  

Essential Functions

  1. Arrive onsite to assigned location on time, prepared to be productive, knowledgeable, engaging, and helpful.
  2. Provide exemplary customer service always. Make it a priority to be courteous, friendly, helpful, and prompt to our visitors, guests, clients, and teammates.
  3. Greet and provide clients with concierge-level service; answer phones in a professional manner, assist walk-in clients as needed if sales staff is temporarily unavailable.
  4. Answer, analyze, and route phone calls to appropriate team members efficiently and accurately.  
  5. Deliver polite, professional, and informative communications in person, or by phone, email or text.
  6. Carry out a broad range of administrative support duties (ex: filing, typing, copying, binding, scanning).
  7. Maintain sales floor and all showroom/common areas with impeccable attention to detail.
  8. Maintain all sales demonstration tools and applications and is responsible for the sampling process and inventory of marketing items (as assigned per location needs).
  9. Prepare quotes for potential customers through HubSpot & ACCPAC and client packages for sales team.
  10. Provide pricing support to Sales staff by estimating custom architectural and flatwork projects (varies by location).
  11. Utilize AutoCAD to produce scaled drawings for sales staff and clients (preferred/varies by location). 
  12. Assist Business Managers by sending invoices, coordinating final payment, and depositing checks.
  13. Assist Sales staff in scheduling deliveries/showroom drops.
  14. Input order information to track orders, send client updates.
  15. Document and process warranties as needed.
  16. Maintain lead and walk-in rotation to evenly distribute new clients. 
  17. Assist with web lead generation; may qualify all web leads, research new projects found online and in magazines, and/or distribute web lead information to sales management or sales team.
  18. Assist in planning, setup and support for showroom events and industry trade association functions with sales team.
  19. Participate in all required safety and HR training. May be required to obtain CPR/AED/First Aid certification.
  20. Work safe always. Follow all required safety guidelines. Practice awareness and prevention and follow all safety and incident reporting procedures.
  21. All other duties as assigned.

  1. Ability to provide exemplary and professional customer service both internally with teammates and coworkers and externally with clients, customers, vendors, etc.
  2. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  3. Proven analytical and problem-solving skills to forecast and/or resolve concerns as well as maintain consistent productivity within department.
  4. Attention to detail / accuracy / problem solving skills.
  5. Willingness to learn about the architectural process and materials including natural stone and ceramic.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not directly supervise any employees.

Required Education and Experience

  1. Associates or higher degree in business management, architectural design, interior design, industrial management or a related field preferred and/or equivalent work experience.
  2. Stone and tile experience a plus. Marketing and sales/sales support experience preferred.  
  3. Computer skills including MS Office and POS systems. Familiarity with HubSpot or other CRM software preferred. 
  4. Must have a valid driver’s license and/or ability to provide own transportation to and from work location.
  5. Ability to change and adapt to a fast-moving business environment; technological changes and product advancements require an open mind and flexibility to be successful.  

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office and/or showroom environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computer, phone, photocopier/scanner, filing cabinet and fax machine. While performing the duties of this job, employee may occasionally attend corporate events or client meetings in other work environments such as warehouse, quarry, or construction site and should abide by all safety standards set forth by that location.  

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with aid. Specific vision abilities required by this job include hearing, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type

This position is currently offered as full-time with work hours typically Monday through Friday from 8:00 am – 5 pm. Some evening and weekend availability may be required. Work schedule to be assigned by department management and subject to change depending on business needs.

Travel 

This position does not regularly require travel. However, local travel by personal vehicle to clients/vendors/locations etc. may be required. Must have a valid driver’s license for this role.
