The Project
Katie Davis of Katie Davis Design creates luxurious interiors that are traditional, comfortable, and liveable. Drawing inspiration from Houston mid-century ranches and the charm of European country interiors, she intentionally layers patterns, textures, and natural materials to create welcoming living spaces.
MATERIAL helped her realize textures and finishes that feel rich and natural, like stone and tile that gain character quickly like tiles in terracotta and stone finishes that tolerate daily wear yet elevate aesthetic.
The Inspiration
The design was mainly inspired by old ranch homes and early suburb architecture in Houston. Those midcentury ranches with big windows, open flow, lots of natural light, and space, but not cold.
European countries and English interiors were also a source of inspiration: warm woods, aged metal, tile floors that patina. Those sensibilities guided material choices.
