Renovation of Georgian-Style Residence in Houston, Texas

Katie Davis Design is a renowned Houston based interior design firm specializing in all aspects of residential design. 

Katie Davis's design philosophy centers on the belief that a home should be "truly lived in above all else." Her portfolio features stylish spaces that nod to a new-traditional aesthetic while still incorporating modern elements and current design trends.

Her interest in design started from a young age. She observed her mom and an interior designer work together to develop, coordinate, and implement a shared vision for her family's home. This imaginative and collaborative process still resonates with her today-and so began her love affair with beautiful spaces and quality furniture, fabrics, and materials.

Project Highlight - What inspired the design?

Katie renovated the powder room of a very traditional Georgian-style abode into a vibrant space while preserving the architecture and timeless design. 

"We chose tile for the flooring, and this classic black and white marble played well to the home's architectural history," she said. "We sourced an antique vanity to coordinate, and the wallpaper from The Mural Source is meant to nod to an antique wall mural."

Project Highlight - What inspired the design?

Nadia works with MATERIAL to fabricate stunning surrounds.  She utilized fireplace-facing materials like Danby Honed Marble to add a perfect touch to the living space.

"I was inspired by Greek Revival, Regency, French Neoclassical, and Art Deco architecture," she said. "So many influences in a single space! You can see the influence in the Greek key carving of the plaster walls that gets repeated on the detailing of the fireplace."

Project Highlight - What inspired the design?

"For me, it's always important to design for the style of the home. For this project, I knew a classic checkerboard pattern would be the perfect complement to the architecture," Karen said. "Because traditional black-and-white polished marble was too formal for our client's taste, I decided to use gray-and-ivory limestone." The natural stone color created a softer, more welcoming entrance.
